Statement in support of LGBTQ2S+ community

Recently, the LGBTQ2S+ community in Hamilton has been the target of displays of hate, violence and extremist ideology. Our agency recognizes and honours the needs of all LGBTQ2S+ children, youth and the families in which they live. We had a booth at the 2019 Pride Celebration in Gage Park, but did not witness the violent acts that took place.

This statement, signed by our Board President, Larry DiIanni, and our Executive Director, Rocco Gizzarelli, denounces this violence and hate. They call on all community leaders to share responsibility for creating a climate of justice, peace and respect for every member of our society and to ensure that Hamilton is a safe community for all persons.
