Rights and Responsibilities for Children and Young Persons in Care

This brochure spells out the rights and responsibilities of young people who are in the care of a children’s aid society. It’s important for young people in care to know that they have rights that are guaranteed by law. Click here for a PDF of the brochure.

This document, from the Government of Ontario, provides an overview of what the Child, Youth and Family Services Act says about the rights of children and young persons. It includes Part X: (Personal Information), which is scheduled to come into effect on January 1, 2020. Click here for a PDF of the document in English.

Engaging Families, Youth and Children in Case Planning

Case Planning Meetings is the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton’s family conferencing model.  A Case Planning Meeting provides the opportunity for families, children and other supports to the family to be directly involved in the development of the case plan.  The case plan identifies the goals and tasks to promote the safety, well-being and permanency of children and youth.  Please review the Engaging Families, Youth and Children in Case Planning pamphlet for additional information.
