Adoption Awareness Month raises awareness about the importance of permanency and life-long connections for children and youth. The primary goal of all Children’s Aid Societies is to support children to live safely with their family of origin. When that is not possible, CASs look for an alternate family, preferably known to the child, who can provide a safe, nurturing, and loving environment in which the child can grow up and flourish.
It continues to be challenging to find families who are ready, willing, and able to meet the needs of older children, large sibling groups, or those with complex medical, developmental, and behavioural needs.
