Celebrating the lives of two influential Black leaders

Picture of MLKPicture of Lincoln AlexanderToday is the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday, which is celebrated around the globe, and marked with a official holiday in the United States on Monday, January 21. On that day, Canadians also remember the life of Hamilton’s own Lincoln Alexander. He was Canada’s first Black Member of Parliament, the first Black Minister of the Crown, and the first visible minority appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. But here in Hamilton, he is best known as Linc, a friend to many.

There will be a free celebration of the Honourable Lincoln Alexander’s life on Monday, January 21 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the Lincoln Alexander Centre. You can find more details at this link.
